Winter Wonderland

We had a very sudden snowfall at the beginning of November, in one day it dropped about 6 inches of snow. I was really surprised because the day before had been warm and gorgeous.

Rock Climbing at Darby Canyon

A bunch of us wanted to go climbing last weekend so we headed over to Darby Canyon, only problem, it was raining and cold but we decided that didn't matter. These are only a few of the pictures I took since I took over 240 pictures.

Andrea was the third climber. Heather was giving her some pointers. Heather was the first to make it to the top.

Lonnie was the first to climb. He started right after the rain had stopped so he didn't get very far because the rock was so slippery.

Soapweed Yucca

This prickly fellow is Soapweed Yucca. This is one of the most useful plants there is, especially since it thrives in desert areas.

Common name-Soapweed Yucca

Latin name- Yucca glauca

Family- Agave

General info- 4' thick, round clump of leaves. Flowers 2", greenish white, cup-shaped, leathery. mostly drooping, abundant; on annual stalk. Leaves 2' linear, stiff, sharp; edges white, fibrous, shreddy.

Blooms- June through July

Habitat-Dry plains, foothills, mesas.

Range-Mainly east of the Continental Divide
